Our Mission During The Summer

During the summer here at Learning Ladder we take as much time as we can to enjoy the outside and what nature has to offer.  We spend so much of the winter inside that it’s nice to explore and discover all the wonderful things in our outside environment.  This year we are going to explore the idea of gardening and what it takes to grow a successful garden.  We will be planting flowers, vegetables etc.  We are also going to take a stab with composting.  This is something we are all going to learn about.  Anyone with experience?  We would love the help!!!  Children will learn first hand about using what we have, planting from seed, weeding, watering and then harvesting (hopefully J).

We will also spend a great deal of time down at the stream.  This is and has always been a favorite part of our summer camp.  We usually visit the stream everyday with lots of exploration in and out of the water.  Children find critters, plants, rocks and other things that make their time exciting and fun.

We will also do a lot of picnicking and a few fieldtrips to places in our community.

The most important part of camp for your child is to have FUN!!!!!  Every child loves to be outside.  This program is for the children and about the children so a lot of what we do is emergent and interests are directed or redirected depending on their interests.  SUMMER TIME IS FUN!!!!

Usually everyday we picnic outside unless it is raining or super hot.  It is important to pack picnic/kid friendly foods that the children can open themselves.

There is still a rest time here during the summer.  Children will need that time to rest, as it is still a very important part of the day.
